Job Description

FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to strengthen their SHEQ Team.

Health and Safety Advisor role:

  • Oversee day-to-day safety operations and contribute to the strategic development of regional safety initiatives.

Health and Safety Advisor responsibilities:

  • Support project teams in complying with health and safety regulations and implementing best practices.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and management system requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure the effective resolution of health and safety issues.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Support project teams in developing risk assessments and implementing appropriate control measures.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of safety-related documentation, such as manuals, procedures, and forms.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, HSE Inspectors, and external assessors.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the site team.
  • Foster a positive health and safety culture within project teams.

Health and Safety Advisor requirements:

  • Extensive experience in health and safety practices, ideally within the construction industry
  • Knowledge of current and upcoming HSE Directives related to health and safety
  • Knowledge of current statutory health and safety law in the UK
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and HSE guidance for construction
  • Knowledge and experience of ISO 45001 (or similar management systems) 
  • Formal qualification in Occupational Safety and Health, such as a NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • CSCS card or equivalent industry certification
