Job Description
FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced Mechanical Regional Discipline Lead to strengthen their Engineering Leadership team.

Mechanical Regional Discipline Lead role:
- Lead technical authority for all mechanical engineering aspects of the project, ensuring effective team delivery, design quality, and stakeholder collaboration.
Mechanical Regional Discipline Lead responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design team to deliver industry-leading solutions and contribute to the management of contractors to ensure projects meet cost, time, quality, and safety requirements.
- Report to the Engineering Director as an ELT member. Collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and other ELT members to deliver best-value solutions.
- Develop new ways of working to reduce carbon, increase biodiversity, address climate change, and embrace innovations and new digital technologies.
- Manage the development and coordination of the mechanical design programme and deliverables schedule throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure comprehensive and accurate record-keeping for all mechanical design processes, programmes, and deliverables.
- Ensure all mechanical designs adhere to relevant regulations, standards, and project requirements (Client brief, contract, DCO, building regulations, CDM) and ensure BIM Execution Plan & CAD protocol are maintained.
- Oversee the timely delivery of high-quality mechanical deliverables, ensuring cost-effective and controlled technical change.
Mechanical Regional Discipline Lead requirements:
Essential:
- Engineering degree or equivalent knowledge through relevant experience.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively pursuing professional registration.
- Experienced in applying mechanical engineering principles within the water/wastewater sector.
- Proven experience in the full lifecycle of multi-disciplinary water industry projects.
- An experienced manager of people and teams, developing others, and managing staff welfare.
- Experience, or a strong understanding of construction, procurement, and commissioning.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering design projects within budget, on schedule, and to the required quality standards while effectively managing competing priorities.
- Proven ability to manage designer’s responsibilities under CDM.
