Job Description

FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading national service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced Project Manager to join their expanding Water Efficiency team.

Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Newcastle or Middlesbrough. This is a home-based role with regular travel across the North East and occasional UK-wide travel.

Project Manager role:

  • The role involves overseeing the successful delivery of water efficiency and field-based plumbing projects across the North East.
  • You will be joining an expanding Water Efficiency team, working on programmes delivered in partnership with major water utility providers and a wide range of customers across different sectors.
  • You will lead a delivery team consisting of 2 Supervisors and approximately 20 Plumbers, supported by an appointment planning team and dedicated Data Analysts.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably and to the highest standards of quality and customer service.
  • This is a hands-on leadership role combining people management, project oversight, operational management and client engagement.
  • You will report to the Client Services Contracts Director and contribute to the continued growth and development of the Water Efficiency team.

Project Manager responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of water efficiency and plumbing projects, ensuring they meet agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.
  • Act as a key stakeholder and client contact, managing contracts and providing regular updates on KPIs, productivity, performance and quality.
  • Recruit, train and support delivery teams while managing performance, wellbeing and welfare.
  • Coordinate project planning and scheduling with internal teams, including Customer Planning and Data Analysts.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with Data Analysts to ensure accurate reporting and effective use of performance information, including Microsoft Power BI.
  • Ensure projects operate in accordance with company policies, procedures and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Support internal process improvements and technology rollouts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to wider company initiatives and the continued success of the Water Efficiency team.

Project Manager requirements:

  • Previous project or operational management experience within the utilities, water or plumbing sector
  • Experience working in or with a water company or water industry contractor
  • Good working knowledge of water efficiency, plumbing and water systems
  • Excellent people management, leadership and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Customer-focused approach with the ability to engage and influence clients and internal teams
  • Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft 365
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or data reporting is desirable
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
