Job Description

FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced to Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team
 
This role is based in Derby with hybrid working available

Senior Quantity Surveyor role:

  • Reporting directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take full responsibility for the commercial management of projects, ensuring effective cost control, contract management, and financial performance throughout all stages of delivery

Senior Quantity Surveyor responsibilities:

  • Oversee all quantity surveying duties for assigned projects and work packages
  • Collaborate with design, construction, and supply chain teams to accurately capture, analyse, and control costs
  • Work closely with the client to ensure all business requirements and project objectives are met
  • Manage main contract obligations, ensuring all contractual notices and correspondence are identified, prepared, and issued in a timely manner
  • Prepare and issue subcontract documentation, ensuring clarity and compliance with company and project standards
  • Support the management and performance monitoring of subcontractors to ensure quality and cost efficiency
  • Prepare and agree applications for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms
  • Produce project cost and value reports, including budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Assist in mentoring and developing junior commercial staff, providing guidance and professional support
  • Maintain continuous professional development through networking, conferences, and industry associations to stay informed on market trends and innovations
  • Demonstrate a positive, proactive, and solution-oriented approach, providing open and constructive feedback
  • Undertake any other duties, training, or hours of work as reasonably required, consistent with the role’s level of responsibility
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure confidentiality and always uphold company integrity

Senior Quantity Surveyor requirements:
 
Essential

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Working towards or have chartered membership of a recognised institution
  • Experience in utilities/civil engineering/MEICA sectors
  • NEC4 Experience 
  • Experience of managing and developing an individual or small team is desirable
