FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the wastewater industry for an experienced Central Procurement Manager to strengthen their Procurement team based in the Hyde area of Greater Manchester

Central Procurement Manager role:

  • Drive Category Strategy: Deliver value, innovation, and cost savings across key spend areas.
  • Manage Supplier Approval: Guarantee supplier compliance with quality and risk standards.
  • Strengthen Partnerships: Build relationships that enhance performance and continuous improvement.
  • Enable Operations: Provide efficient, compliant sourcing to meet business needs.
  • Ensure Alignment: Maintain consistency with company and client procurement policies.
  • Connect Strategy and Delivery: Embed best practices and scalable processes across all functions.

Central Procurement Manager responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Central Procurement Team.
  • Serve as the escalation point for procurement queries and challenges. Oversee planning, budgeting, workload, performance reviews, and training.
  • Manage supplier onboarding to ensure compliance and minimise risk. Support audits and uphold internal policy standards.
  • Nurture key supplier relationships to maximise value
  • Approve final supplier evaluations and performance outcomes.
  • Partner with stakeholders to meet operational needs.
  • Analyse markets and risks to inform sourcing and strategy.
  • Lead tendering, including ITTs/RFQs, evaluations, and contract awards.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, KPIs, and service levels.
  • Champion sustainable procurement aligned with ESG principles.
  • Manage and optimise P2P systems for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Deliver regular board-level performance and procurement reports.
  • Act as the primary contact for supplier stability and risk issues.
  • Develop and track KPIs for team and individual performance.
  • Take on additional duties as required to support business needs.
  • Represent the organisation professionally in all external interactions.

Central Procurement Manager requirements:

  • Experience in category management within a senior procurement role.
  • Advanced knowledge of category management and procurement models.
  • Customer-centric approach to procurement delivery.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Organised, resilient, and deadline driven.
  • Proficient in P2P and reporting systems, Excel, Power BI, and ideally Visio.
  • Demonstrable success in delivering cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Strong understanding of supply chains, frameworks, and contract law.
  • Experience shaping procurement policies and procedures.
  • Confident and constructive stakeholder engagement
