Group Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Oldham / Rochdale / Littleborough Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
 
Finlay Jude Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a respected manufacturer with multiple North West sites. We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Group Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their experienced engineering team.
 
We’re looking for an experienced, time-served electrical engineer with a strong understanding of industrial maintenance.

  • Calls out 1 in every 7 weeks due to a high volume of installation work.
  • Day shift.
  • Multi-site.
  • Overtime required.
  • Own transport and hand tools required.

 
The Role
 
As a Group Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving the electrical systems across multiple production facilities. You’ll be responsible for responding to engineering breakdowns, carrying out routine inspections and testing, and supporting ongoing improvement projects.
 
This is a hands-on, multi-site position working closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency within a safety-driven environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production equipment and systems.
  • Perform routine testing and inspection of electrical systems and portable equipment in accordance with BS 7671 (Electrical Regulations).
  • Support and implement the Preventative Maintenance Programme to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Assist in engineering projects, installations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, and customer-specific quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical maintenance teams (approx. 30% mechanical work involved).
  • Liaise with external contractors when required.
  • Ensure essential stock levels are maintained.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with overtime, shutdown periods, and call-out cover.

 
Essential Requirements:

  • Apprentice trained. City and guilds or HNC. Ideally City & guilds due to the amount of installation works.
  • 18th
  • IPAF trained.
  • City and guilds 2391- testing.
  • PLC programming / fault finding skills (mainly siemens).
  • Installation Work.
  • Fixed wire testing.
  • Panel building.
  • Some mechanical work.
  • Mininum of 3 years’ experience in a similar industrial or manufacturing maintenance role.
  • Sound working knowledge of electrical systems, both A.C. and D.C.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems and controls.

Desirable:

  • Experience with ATEX equipment.
  • Previous involvement in continuous improvement projects.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
