Job Description
FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced Design Manager Senior to strengthen their team.
This role is based in Cambridge.

Design Manager Senior role:
- Take charge of successfully delivering non-infrastructure projects, making sure they stay on track with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage and coordinate the final planning and detailed design for construction, ensuring high-quality and innovative engineering solutions.
- Manage the design delivery according to the plan and brief, ensuring it meets client needs, budget, schedule, design standards, responsibilities, BIM strategy, and contract terms.
- Track and report on design progress weekly and monthly, taking proactive measures to ensure timely delivery, cost control, and adherence to efficiency, quality, and safety standards.
- Lead and inspire a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Identify technical risks and take action to reduce them and solve challenges effectively.
- Make sure the solution’s scope is clearly defined and agreed upon by all parties, with the design meeting the client brief, contract, laws, regulations, and all technical requirements.
- Develop new ways of working to reduce carbon, increase biodiversity, address climate change, and embrace innovations and new digital technologies.
- Oversee the Technical deliverables ensuring they are produced within the required timescales, technical costs are properly managed, and technical change is tightly controlled.
- Ensure all engineering outputs meet industry-leading standards and client expectations.
Design Manager Senior requirements:
- Engineering degree, preferably with chartered engineer status or actively working towards it.
- Experience in designing multi-disciplinary capital projects in the water industry, from initial solution to detailed design.
- Experience or a solid understanding of construction, procurement, and commissioning, along with a strong knowledge of CDM regulations and practical experience in their application.
- Proven experience in successfully managing the final optioneering phase and detailed design for construction.
- Ability to work collaboratively with partners and motivate a team to deliver top-tier engineering results.
- Skilled in using project management software and other relevant technical tools.
