Job Description

FJA are looking to recruit a Financial Controller on behalf of our client who specialise in the Manufacturing industry in the Rossendale area of Lancashire.

Working hours are Monday – Thursday 8am – 4.30pm and an early Friday finish, working 8am – 12.30pm. The role is fully office based in their Rossendale office.
  
Financial Controller Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining the Company accounts and the Accounts department on a day to day basis
  • Senior member of the Management Team – you will deputise for the Directors when they are not in the office
  • Work closely with Managing Director and other members of the Management team to optimise Company performance
  • Work remotely with Management and Accounts teams at headquarters in Europe to provide reports, analysis and insight as required
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and profit and loss and provide Managing Director with a monthly variance report
  • Prepare statutory reports as required and liaise with relevant auditors/accountants, including statutory accounts, corporation tax return
  • Manage UK Payroll and liaise with relevant agencies and authorities
  • Manage year-end audit process including year-end stock takes
  • Perform monthly stock valuation and analysis.
  • Carry out regular business review of sales, orders, backlog, margin and trends.
  • Manage general ledger, overhead cost control process ensuring all accounts are reconciled
  • Prepare profit forecasts and annual budget and provide Managing Director with variance and trend analysis.

Ad hoc duties and responsibilities of the Financial Controller:

  • Company secretarial duties including coordinating and managing company insurances, pensions and healthcare
  • Ad hoc HR responsibilities across the businesses
  • Management of company vehicles and fuel cards
  • Management of business contracts – Utilities, equipment etc
  • Management of 2 Finance staff members
  • Occasional travel to Accountants, Auditors and the Bank as required
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required by the Directors

  To be considered for the Financial Controller role, you must have:

  • A relevant Finance Qualification would be highly advantageous – CIMA / ACCA / ACA
  • Previous experience in a Senior Finance role with similar duties as listed above
  • Staff management experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment would be preferable
  • Experience of Navision and Sage would be an advantage
