Finlay Jude Associates are supporting a long term client in recruiting a Lead Estimator to join their Estimating team in Falmer, with the flexibility of hybrid working. Your Role:
Reporting to the Pre-Construction Lead, you will be at the heart of the estimating function, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strategic insight in cost assessments. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the estimating function across multiple water projects, managing a team covering civil, mechanical, and electrical estimating.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders, including framework design, engineering, and delivery teams, to support project estimation and tendering.
- Driving estimating strategy and resource allocation in partnership with the Head of Estimating.
- Taking ownership of project estimates from feasibility through to detailed design stages.
- Developing and presenting estimating strategies to both internal and external senior stakeholders.
- Conducting technical and commercial appraisals of material and subcontractor quotations.
- Attending site visits during the tender period to ensure thorough and accurate assessments.
A Successful Applicant will have the following skills and experience;
- Preferably Chartered in a relevant discipline.
- Extensive experience as an Estimator in major civils projects, particularly within the water sector.
- A track record of pricing medium to large value civil engineering projects.
- Familiarity with the Civil Engineering Method of Measurement.
- A customer-focused, honest, and safety-conscious approach.
- Outstanding communication skills and a strong team ethic.
