You will be at the forefront of delivering a forward-thinking, sustainable, and industry-leading water and water recycling service, ensuring the successful relocation and transformation of this flagship facility.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, you will act as the lead technical authority for all civil engineering aspects, driving integration across design, construction, commissioning, and project handover. You will shape the civil engineering strategy, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and innovative best practices while leading a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Provide strategic direction on all civil and structural engineering aspects, ensuring seamless integration across project phases.
- Team Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing civil engineering team, fostering innovation and technical excellence.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, external partners, and key stakeholders to drive alignment and deliver value.
- Programme & Budget Oversight: Ensure civil design deliverables are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.
- Risk & Compliance Management: Uphold health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to CDM regulations, Development Consent Orders, and industry best practices.
- Innovation & Sustainability: Drive advancements in carbon reduction, biodiversity enhancement, climate resilience, and digital transformation.
- Design Excellence: Oversee all civil and structural design deliverables, ensuring compliance with client specifications, technical requirements, and BIM standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Establish best-in-class processes for design integration, project governance, and efficiency optimisation.
What would make a successful candidate:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience); Chartered status (or working towards).
- Extensive experience in civil and structural engineering leadership within large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally in the water/wastewater sector.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex design projects, and drive technical excellence.
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations, procurement, and construction methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering major infrastructure projects within programme, budget, and quality parameters.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
This is a rare opportunity to lead and influence a transformational infrastructure project, shaping the future of water services in the UK.
