Job Description
Finlay Jude Associates are supporting a long term client in seeking a Regional Design Lead to join their Engineering team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of water and wastewater infrastructure.
As part of our clients commitment to delivering a sustainable and industry-leading Water and Water Recycling Service, they are undertaking major projects that will redefine the sector. A key initiative is the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant Relocation Project (CWWTPRP)—a flagship development relocating the existing facility to a cutting-edge site near the A14 in Cambridgeshire.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, you will provide strategic leadership throughout the design phases of a diverse project portfolio. You will ensure the delivery of cost-effective, technically robust, and buildable solutions that align with stakeholder requirements, programme milestones, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Drive excellence in design management, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices, safety regulations, and sustainability goals.
- Health & Safety: Champion H&S in design, proactively identifying and mitigating risks while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Project Oversight: Oversee design execution, managing budgets, resource allocation, and programme delivery to achieve efficiency and quality objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and clients, delivering exceptional service and solutions.
- Technical Excellence: Provide technical guidance across disciplines, ensuring solutions optimise cost, quality, and sustainability.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation, digital integration, and efficiency enhancements, contributing to the evolution of best practices.
What would make a successful candidate?
- Extensive experience in multi-disciplinary design management within a design-build environment.
- Degree in an engineering-related discipline (Chartered Engineer status essential).
- Proven track record in leading large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, construction H&S, and project governance.
- Ability to drive performance, set targets, and manage diverse teams to meet time, cost, and quality objectives.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
