FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced Regional Discipline Lead – Mechanical to strengthen their team.

Regional Discipline Lead – Mechanical role:
- You will lead all mechanical engineering aspects of the project, reporting directly to the Engineering Director.
- Review mechanical deliverables for quality, mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals, and drive continuous improvement in engineering practices.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce carbon emissions, enhance biodiversity, address climate change, and integrate innovative digital technologies into our operations.
- You will assist in appointing specialist contractors and manage their design team contracts, ensuring adherence to cost, time, quality, and safety requirements.
- Ensure the mechanical design aligns with the client’s brief, contract, applicable legislation, Development Consent Order, building regulations, and CDM requirements. Additionally, you will maintain the BIM Execution Plan and CAD protocols throughout the project.
- Oversee the mechanical discipline’s technical deliverables, ensuring they are completed within specified timelines, managing technical costs effectively, and maintaining strict control over technical changes.
Regional Discipline Lead – Mechanical requirements:
- You will possess a degree in engineering or a closely related field or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and expertise through relevant professional experience.
- Preferably Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards achieving it.
- You will demonstrate practical competence in mechanical engineering within the water and wastewater industry, encompassing system design, installation, maintenance, and optimisation.
- Experience of mentoring and coaching of junior engineers and designing multi-disciplinary water industry capital projects, from solution to detailed design.
- Proven record in delivering design projects to program, budget, and quality requirements, and managing competing tensions.
- Proven ability to manage designer’s responsibilities under CDM.
- Experience of Wastewater and Sludge Treatment Centres.
