Job Description

FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced to Training Manager to strengthen their team.
The ideal candidate is someone who has water industry or utilities background with occupational experience in water operations.
 
You will be a good communicator and ideally have a background in training and assessing qualifications. You will be both professional and customer focused on your approach and proficient in maintaining and expanding current relationships. You will have experience in delivering learning to a diverse range of people including apprentices.

Training Manager role:

  • Responsible for setting the strategy for the Water Training Team in line with departmental objectives, developing and managing apprenticeship and training programmes that deliver high-quality, compliant, technical hands-on training. This includes managing a team of trainers, ensuring compliance with industry, government, awarding body, and Ofsted regulations, while undertaking the role of lead IQA where appropriate

Training Manager responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate and manage the Training Team to drive engagement and high performance
  • Manage performance, appraisals, recruitment, onboarding, and HR processes
  • Promote company values, coaching culture, inclusion, and continuous professional development
  • Support new business growth with technical expertise and proposals
  • Build and maintain client relationships, attending meetings and providing progress updates
  • Maintain and improve quality standards across training delivery
  • Lead Internal Quality Assurance for apprenticeships and qualifications
  • Ensure successful completion of external audits (CABWI, EUSR, City & Guilds, Ofsted)
  • Oversee design and delivery of high-quality training programmes and materials
  • Ensure compliance with apprenticeship and awarding body requirements
  • Monitor learner progression and implement interventions where needed
  • Maximise trainer utilisation and ensure team upskilling meets business needs
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of course administration and paperwork
  • Manage learner enrolment, onboarding and support processes
  • Balance workload between internal trainers and associates
  • Manage training budgets and forecasts, ensuring cost efficiency and accurate reporting
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and safeguarding policies
  • Participate in governance activities to maintain high standards

Training Manager requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Relevant industry knowledge in a training environment
  • Experience managing a high-performing team
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Current knowledge of training best practice
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Degree educated or equivalent
