EICA Design Engineer

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading integrated design and build provider within the Water sector for an EICA Design Engineer to join their team based in Hattersley, with hybrid working available and regular site visits required.
 
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful organisation delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK water industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and coordination of Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (EICA) designs, supporting projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
 
Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will be responsible for producing high-quality EICA design solutions, ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards and health, safety and environmental regulations. Responsibilities of the EICA Design Engineer:

• Produce cost-effective EICA design solutions that meet project specifications and can be constructed, operated and commissioned efficiently
• Develop and coordinate EICA design documentation, drawings and technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables including load schedules, single line diagrams (SLDs), block cable diagrams (BCDs), instrument indexes and technical specifications
• Ensure designs comply with client requirements, industry standards and regulatory obligations
• Coordinate EICA designs with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to support successful project delivery
• Support bid and proposal teams with technical input, estimates and design solutions
• Promote the use of standardised engineering practices and solutions wherever possible
• Ensure health, safety and environmental considerations are fully integrated into all design activities 
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, procedures and design standards 
• Support the delivery of projects within agreed timescales and budgets
• Maintain accurate design records and technical documentation 
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers
• Support a culture of customer focus, collaboration and engineering excellence
• Maintain a personal development plan and actively pursue professional development opportunities

Required Skills and Experience of the EICA Design Engineer:

• HND or Degree in Electrical, Control, Instrumentation, Automation or a related Engineering discipline 
• Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution
• Experience delivering EICA design solutions within water, utilities, infrastructure or industrial environments 
• Ability to develop practical, cost-effective engineering designs and plant layouts
• Experience producing EICA deliverables including load schedules, SLDs, BCDs, instrument indexes and technical specifications
• Strong understanding of engineering design principles and multidisciplinary project delivery
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical information effectively
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly and confidently
• Good level of computer literacy and familiarity with engineering design software and documentation systems 
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Experience:

• Experience working within the water and wastewater sector
• Understanding of water and sewage treatment processes
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status
• Master’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline
• Experience working on design and build projects within regulated infrastructure environments
