Job Description

FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading water infrastructure contractor for an ambitious EICA Engineer to join their growing engineering team based in Bristol or Exeter, with hybrid working available and regular site visits expected across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for an EICA professional to contribute to the design and delivery of major water and wastewater projects, supporting the development of innovative engineering solutions while working alongside multidisciplinary teams on critical infrastructure programmes.

EICA Engineer responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality EICA design solutions for water and wastewater treatment projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce cost-effective engineering designs that support safe construction, efficient commissioning and whole-life project value.
  • Coordinate EICA engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams, including Civil, Mechanical, Process and Project Management functions.
  • Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, control philosophies and engineering drawings.
  • Support the Proposals team by providing technical input, design advice, cost estimates and feedback during tender and bid activities.
  • Promote standardisation and continuous improvement to maintain project competitiveness and delivery efficiency.
  • Monitor and contribute to the development of engineering procedures, processes and best practice standards.
  • Ensure effective document control and maintain accurate project records throughout the lifecycle of each contract.
  • Champion health, safety and environmental best practice, ensuring all designs comply with relevant legislation and CDM requirements.
  • Build strong client relationships and contribute towards achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Support personal and professional development through continuous learning and technical progression.
  • Drive sustainable engineering solutions and minimise waste across engineering and project delivery activities.

EICA Engineer requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical, Control, Instrumentation, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Candidates with a relevant Engineering HND will also be considered.
  • Full membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and infrastructure.
  • Ability to rationalise designs and develop cost-effective engineering solutions and plant layouts.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manage technical information.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical proposals to clients and stakeholders.
  • Good IT and computer literacy skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the region.

Desirable experience:

  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • Relevant Engineering Master’s Degree.
  • Experience working within the water and wastewater sector.
  • Knowledge of digital engineering tools, automation technologies and modern control systems.
  • Experience working on design and build projects.
