Job Description
Due to increased workload within their Water & Wastewater Capital Delivery business, our client is seeking an experienced General Foreman / Senior General Foreman to join their team on a short-term contract basis supporting the delivery of major water and wastewater treatment projects across Bristol and Devon.
This is a hands-on site leadership role, responsible for managing day-to-day construction activities, leading site teams and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects within a fast-paced operational environment.

Key General Foreman / Senior General Foreman Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate site teams and subcontractors to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of construction activities.
- Ensure all works are carried out with consideration for local communities, stakeholders and the travelling public.
- Manage, supervise and mentor site personnel, promoting a positive and high-performing site culture.
- Drive health, safety, quality and environmental compliance across all project activities.
- Promote cost-conscious construction practices through the effective utilisation of labour, plant and materials.
- Assist in the preparation, review and ongoing management of project programmes.
- Ensure method statements and risk assessments are prepared, reviewed, communicated and regularly updated.
- Monitor site progress and implement corrective actions where required to maintain programme objectives.
- Coordinate temporary works and ensure all relevant controls and approvals are in place.
- Maintain accurate site records and ensure completion documentation is provided in a timely manner.
- Support project teams in achieving contractual, operational and performance targets.
- Attend and maintain all training and competency requirements necessary for the role.
About You Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a General Foreman, Senior General Foreman or Site Management role within construction, utilities or infrastructure projects.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- CSCS Site Manager Card (minimum requirement).
- IOSH Managing Safely, Construction Managers Safety Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- EUSR Clean Water accreditation.
- Cat & Genny (Cable Avoidance Tool) training.
- Fire Marshal qualification.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Proven ability to manage site teams, subcontractors and construction activities safely and effectively.
Desirable
- Experience working within the water and wastewater treatment sector.
- Temporary Works or Appointed Person qualifications.
- Experience delivering civil engineering and process infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and construction compliance requirements.
- Experience working on major utility or water framework contracts.
