Job Description

FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the water and wastewater industry for an experienced Project Manager to strengthen their delivery team.

Project Manager Role

  • Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager or Operations Manager, you will lead the delivery of multi‑disciplinary water‑sector projects from design through to construction, commissioning and handover
  • You will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with technical specifications, programme requirements and commercial targets
  • The role involves managing project teams, coordinating resources, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, subcontractors and suppliers

Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Promote exceptional safety standards across direct and subcontracted teams
  • Ensure the Business Management System (BMS) is applied throughout the full project lifecycle – from tender handover to final completion
  • Maintain strong client relationships at all levels and uphold the company’s reputation with partners and suppliers
  • Ensure sufficient trained personnel are allocated to the project and fully aware of their responsibilities
  • Review, approve and manage the Project Execution Plan (PEP), ensuring effective planning, monitoring and control
  • Ensure detailed construction plans, method statements and supporting documentation are prepared and approved prior to works commencing
  • Ensure all project records required by the PEP are completed and available at contract completion
  • Report all site non‑conformities and identify associated cost impacts
  • Manage all commercial aspects of the project proactively, providing accurate forecasts and cost estimates
  • Apply strong project management practices from scheme conception through to end‑user acceptance
  • Produce and present reports for governance reviews, covering progress, risks, opportunities and performance
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry developments through CPD, networking and professional engagement
  • Represent the company professionally in all internal and external interactions
  • Ensure quality, safety and environmental policies are understood and implemented
  • Maintain a practical understanding of all technical disciplines involved in water and wastewater design and build projects

Project Manager Requirements
Essential

  • Proven Project Management experience delivering multi‑disciplinary design and construction projects, ideally within the water industry
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in construction, engineering or a related discipline
  • Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, stakeholders and end users.
  • Delivery‑driven mindset with the ability to set targets and motivate multi‑disciplinary teams to achieve time, cost and quality objectives
  • Experience in project delivery, including planning, technical oversight and commercial management.
  • Strong strategic, operational, technical and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts (ideally NEC and/or IChemE) with the ability to negotiate and administer effectively.
  • Experience presenting at governance reviews in a lead capacity.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience.
  • Working knowledge of CDM regulations and construction Health & Safety.

Desirable

  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Chartered status with an engineering, commercial or construction institution.
  • NEC Project Manager Accreditation.
